Housed
in the elegant National Museum building, a national
monument, the Singapore History Museum explores the
rich heritage of the people of Singapore, from our ethnic
and cultural diversity to our struggle for nationhood.
Visitors can choose from an exciting array of exhibitions
- from a recreated early 20th century Peranakan house to a
tour of the 19th century paintings of South-east Asian
flora and fauna commissioned by the first Resident of
Singapore Major-General William Farquhar. A major
highlight is The Singapore Story: Overcoming The Odds, a
exhilarating 3D show that takes us through our nation's
history, from the colonial period to present day
Singapore.
The
Singapore History Museum is a National Museum and an
institution of the National Heritage Board.
The Singapore
History Museum is currently closed for extensive renovation
and extension works.
