Transport
From 8 February 2002, you can take the MRT to the Changi Airport. From
the city centre, it's only a 27-minute ride. The train service from the
Changi Airport station operates at an average frequency of 12 minutes
and its service hours are as follows:

First train: 5:31am (Mon to Sat), 5:59am (Sun and public holidays)
Last train: 11:18pm (daily)
City Hall station to Changi Airport station
First train: 6:09am (Mon to Sat), 6:45am (Sun and public holidays)

The
fare for a single trip from Changi Airport station to City Hall station
is SGD 1.40. For the convenience of travellers, trains serving the
Changi Airport station provide luggage racks and free space in every
carriage.
Entertainment
Passengers waiting at
Changi Airport now have a choice of three specialised lounges-
Sports Arena, News Hub and Movie Theatre.
The Sports Arena shows
ESPN, Star Sports and the Football Channel. News Hub offers major
international news channels, such as BBC World, CNBC and CNN
International, as well as Channel News Asia, and financial
information from Bridge News and Bloomberg News. A news-stand there
offers a range of newspapers and magazines. The Movie Theatre plays
movies from Star Movies channel on a large 84-inch back projection
screen. These three lounges are located at the departure and transit
areas of Terminals 1 and 2.
Children's Playground
Changi Airport has a place for young travellers to have moments of
fun. This play area is located near the Country Manna Family Restaurant
at Terminal 1 or on Level 3 within the Entertainment Centre at Terminal
2. Suitable for children aged from 1 to 12.
Smoking Room
If you
wish to smoke, you can make your way to either
Changi Airport's Smoking Room or Outdoor Smoking Areas.
Left Baggage
You can
have your luggage looked after, if you need to leave the Airport. This

Snooze Time
Changi Airport's two passenger terminals have five designated areas
that provide free rest facilities to help passengers catch up on their
beauty sleep. There are nearly 60 reclining snooze chairs around the two
terminals of Changi Airport that can be used by any traveller. Some
snooze chairs are even fitted with vibrating alarm clocks to wake the
traveller in time for his flight. The rest areas where these snooze
chairs can be found are made conducive for napping as lights are dimmed
and glass panels are darkened to keep out the glare in the day. There
are also massage chairs where you can soothe your weary body.
Aside
from these free facilities, travellers can also drop in at the two
transit hotels to rest in the privacy of well equipped rooms. The hotels
charge S$40.45 to S$86.60 for every six hour block. The hotels also
offer shower facilities, a swimming pool and a jacuzzi.
Travellers who do not need a room can get their rest in private bunks at
the Plaza Premium Lounge and the Rainforest Lounge. Both places also
offer massage services, gyms to work out the travel rigours and ample
shower facilities.
Money Changers
All major
currencies are accepted at money changers found in the Departure/Transit
Lounge and Arrival Hall of both terminals; operating 24 hours daily.
These counters are operated by established banks in Singapore, offering
you competitive exchange rates.
Phone
cards are available at these counters. Passengers can also purchase
travel insurance from American Express Exchange Services money changers
with a credit card.
Business Centres
Services
like photocopying, faxing, typing and mailing of documents are available
at the Transit Hotels for your convenience.
Changi Airport's Business Centres open daily from 7am to 11pm, with
photocopying and faxing services available 24 hours.

Passengers in transit or
waiting to board a plane at
Changi Airport can enjoy FREE Internet connections on their laptops
with the airport's Ethernet LAN/Network points at these designated
areas.

(AVA) conducted joint inspections of Prima Food Pte Ltd which produces
the chocolate cakes for all Prima Deli retail outlets.
Food and environmental samples were taken
for laboratory analysis. Preliminary results on 03 December 2007 for the
food samples are suggestive of Salmonella as the likely causative agent...
As at 03 December 2007, there were a total
of 106 cases including six hospitalised cases, all of whom have been
discharged. Six cases tested positive for Salmonella Enteritidis. The
last case had onset of illness on 26 November 2007.
Out of the164
Singaporeans detected to be HIV infected in the first six months, about
93% of the new cases detected this year were males and 7% were females.
Sexual transmission remains the main mode of HIV
transmission among Singaporeans. Of the 164 cases reported in the first
6 months of 2007, 155 cases acquired the infection through the sexual
route, with heterosexual transmission accounting for 67% of infections,
homosexual transmission 24% and bisexual transmission 3%. Intravenous
drug use (4 cases) accounted for 2%...

Singapore Changi Airport marks a page in the
Business Traveller United Kingdom (UK) magazine for being the longest
"Best Airport in the World" title holder for the past 20 consecutive
years...
Singapore and the United Kingdom (UK) have
concluded a landmark Open Skies Agreement (OSA) on 2 October 2007,
removing all restrictions on air services operated by carriers of both
countries.
With this agreement, Singapore Airlines (SIA)
will now be able to operate as many services as the Singapore-UK market
could support...
Similarly, UK carriers will be able to
operate any number of services beyond Singapore to any other city
in the world. These rights, which will be effective from end-March
2008, come nearly two decades after Singapore first made its
request to the UK...
Clause 11
of the Bill makes it mandatory for anyone physically
carrying currency and bearer negotiable instruments or
CBNI, above S$30,000, into or out of Singapore, to
declare this to the authorities at the checkpoints...
The threshold amount of
S$30,000 is based on the recommendation by the FATF,
and includes not only currency in circulation, but
also bearer negotiable instruments such as travellers
cheques, money orders, cheques, bonds and promissory
notes...
Hence, for clarity, a crossed cheque
made payable to a specific person with the word “bearer” deleted
is not considered a bearer negotiable instrument because only the
person named on the cheque can receive the amount stated on it.
The new measure would be
non-discriminatory and will be imposed on all travellers,
including citizens, residents and foreigners, entering and exiting
the country.
The penalties for non-declaration and false
declaration are a maximum fine of S$50,000 or a term of imprisonment of
up to 3 years or both...

Food outlets such as hawker centres,
coffeeshops, cafes and fast food restaurants will be smoke-free from 1st
July. To protect patrons from second-hand smoke, smokers are reminded to

Under this new regulation, smoking is banned
within the indoor refreshment areas (IRA) of all foodshops (Eg.
Coffeeshops, Cafes, Restaurants). They can designate up to 20% of the
floor area in their outdoor refreshment areas (ORA) as a smoking corner
upon NEA’s approval...
Terminal 3 will also employ
state-of-the-art technologies to create a seamless environment for
passengers transferring between the three terminals at Changi
Airport.
These include a new People Mover System
with a total of seven train stations located at various
points within the three terminals, and a high-speed baggage
system to facilitate quick transfers of bags between
