             Built at the site where Chinese immigrants offered thanks to Ma-Cho, Goddess of Seafarers, for a safe journey

             Serves as the headquarters and place of worship for the Hokkiens in Singapore

             Constructed: 1839-42

             Gazetted as a national monument: 6 Jul 1973
