The Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) will be introducing the Singapore International Primary school Leaving Examination (iPSLE) in August 2005 in designated overseas Examination centres.
The iPSLE is the international version of the Singapore Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) and is designed for pupils in overseas schools that adopt a curriculum similar to the Singapore primary school curriculum.
The iPSLE is only offered to pupils enrolled in overseas schools and serves to assess and certify their academic attainment based on the Singapore primary school curriculum.
The iPSLE will have a different set of question papers from the PSLE but the examination format and standard will be similar to the PSLE.
Overseas pupils may use iPSLE results to apply for admission to Singapore secondary schools. School principals can admit pupils based on iPSLE results in lieu of the school entrance tests, subject to availability of vacancies after the Secondary One posting exercise conducted by the Ministry of Education.
The first designated overseas examination centre is the Nasional High Junior School, Jakarta, a member of the Piaget Academy (http://www.piagetacademy.org). Interested candidates can register with the school in March/April 2005.
Further information on the iPSLE is available at SEAB's website (http://www.seab.gov.sg). All enquiries related to examination matters can be sent to the following email address:
