Traffic Arrangement for Annual Fire Walking Festival 2005

The Annual Fire Walking Festival will be held on Monday, 24 October 2005 at the Sri Mariamman Temple No 244 South Bridge Road. It will commence from 12.30 am to around 12 pm.
A large number of devotees, tourists and spectators are expected to gather along the procession routes and at both temples to witness the ceremony.
About 5,000 devotees are expected to participate in the procession and they will assemble at the Sri Srinnivasa Perumal Temple at Serangoon Road at about 12 am.
The devotees will then proceed to Sri Mariamman Temple via Serangoon Road , Selegie Road into Bras Basah Road and proceed to North Bridge Road and finally arrive at South Bridge Road , Sri Mariamman Temple .
In order to facilitate the event, the following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic :
23 Oct 2005 ( 8.00 pm ) to 24 Oct 2005 ( 3.00 pm )
-Mohammad Ali Lane
- Mosque Street
24 Oct 2005 ( 12.30 am to 12.00 pm )
-
Pagoda Street
- Temple Street ; and
- Trengganu Street (between Smith Street and Pagoda Street ).
To facilitate the traffic arrangements for the event, the following lanes will be barricaded and closed to all vehicular traffic:
- One lane closure along Serangoon Rd, Selegie Rd, Prinsep St, Bras Basah Rd and North Bridge Rd; and
- One and a half lanes of South Bridge Road from the junction of Cross Street
Traffic Flow is expected to be heavy, especially during the morning peak hours. Motorists are advised to avoid the above mentioned roads and the peripheral roads leading to the affected area. Police officers and marshals will be deployed at various junctions to assist and regulate traffic.
