The Singapore
Tourism Board said on 17 Sep 2003 that it will publicly blacklist errant
retailers from October 2003, reintroducing a measure it took 10 years
ago. 55 complaints have been received against a shop in the basement level
of Lucky Plaza shopping Centre in Orchard Road this year. (Straits Times

Consumer
watchdog CASE's president, Dr TEO Ho Pin, disclosed on 20 Dec 2000 that the
Consumer's Association of Singapore had filed 151 complaints this year
seeking S$1.4 million in refunds from firms which have engaged in unfair
trade practices. It succeeded in getting back 83% of the money. Last
year, it managed 70% and the year before, 55%. A total of S$980,000 came
from time-share companies. These holiday-package companies, notorious
for hard selling, topped the list of businesses which faced complaints
this year. (Straits Times 21 Dec 2000)
